Rating

• The Player Ratings are designed to rate individual players according to their ability. This is the primary basis for seeding in tournaments.
• Player Ratings are earned according to final placement in tournaments and remain valid for a player for 12 months. When this period of time has lapsed, the player’s rating will become the next highest rating that he or she has earned in the latest 12 months.
• If a player does not compete during the 12 month rating period, the player will be downgraded to the next lower Player Rating level
• Player Ratings will be awarded according to the Player Rating Schedule.

Ranking

• Ranking points can be earned at each Beach Tour tournament.
• Ranking is updated based on cumulative points and published after each tournament
• Ranking points will be awarded according to the Player Ranking Schedule.
• Due to the nature of the elimination process, multiple teams are eliminated from the competition at the same time. These teams will be awarded the same final ranking from the event.
• If a player does not compete during the 12 month rating period the player will be downgraded to the next lower Player Rating level.
• All teams/individuals eliminated at the same point in the tournament will be allocated the same points. For example, in a double elimination draw 7^th & 8^th are eliminated together so both teams will be allocated points for the 7^th place.
• Points are collected individually. It is possible to play with a new partner every tournament.

Ranking & Rating Schedule

Seeding

• Seeding of teams of the 1^st tournament is based on a draw. Seeding of the teams of the next tournaments is based on rating & ranking.
• Firstly, seeding will be based on the combined Player Rating (A, B, C) of the team members.
• Secondly, teams with the same combined Player Rating will be seeded by the combined total of Ranking Points gained by team members during the current season.
• Should two or more teams still remain tied they will be separated according to the lowest placing of a player in either team.
• Wildcard teams may be allowed to enter a tournament. They will be seeded at the discretion of the event organiser.

Format

The Tour is limited to 12 teams in each gender. The format is double elimination. This format is implemented on most of National Tours in European countries.

Full game format to 21, 21, 15.

All teams are appointed to referee the matches.

Double Elimination Format

A double elimination tournament is a type of elimination tournament competition in which a participant ceases to be eligible to win the tournament’s championship upon having lost two matches.

• All teams start the competition in the Winners Bracket (WB) where they remain until registering a loss.
• The first-round winners proceed into WB and the losers proceed into ‘Losers Bracket’ (LB)
• A team loosing a match in the WB will move into the ‘Losers Bracket’ (LB) where they remain until registering the 2^nd loss, at which time they are eliminated from the competition.
• The format continues until 4 teams remain in the competition: 2 teams in each of the WB and LB. At this point teams will compete in the semi-finals where each WB team will play a LB team. Winners of these matches will proceed to the final.

Schedule & Match Officiating

• Registration is at 8.30. The 1^st game starts at 9.00 sharp. Team late for registration will forfeit the 1^st set/match.
• In all matches teams will be expected to referee and score (ie do ‘duty’).
• In double elimination format referees will be appointed for the 1^st round and then ‘loser-duty’ will generally apply. This means that the team that lost the previous match on that court must referee the next match.
• Players doing ‘duty’ shall be situated on opposite sides of the court (1^st referee and scorer), 1^st referee shall always be standing.

Player Obligations

By registering as a beach volleyball player at the Dubai Beach Tour all players agree to the following Players Obligations:

• The players ensure that they are in good health to participate in beach volleyball competitions and hereby assumes total responsibility for any health problem that may occur.
• The players agree to keep the Beach Tour indemnified from any claims, actions, suits and proceedings whatsoever arising out of the actions or omissions of the player.
• The player acknowledges that Dubai Beach Tour is not responsible for the safety of the player or his/her property during a tournament or at any other time.
• The player, team manager/coach/es, team representative/s, parent/s or guardian/s hereby authorize/s and grants Dubai Beach Tour and its appointed agents the full right/s to use their name, voice, images and biographical material for the purposes of publicising, promoting and advertising any Dubai Beach Tour and RIO Academy events, competitions or any other activities. Use/s will include marketing, filming, televising, broadcasting, webcasting, social media and other related presentations or uses as described above in perpetuity in any territory. All parties as described above agree that all rights are granted without compensation and hereby waive/s any right to such compensation. Dubai Beach Tour and RIO Academy will retain all rights and ownerships of all material on any medium obtained by any method.
• By registering as Dubai Beach Tour Player and entering the tournament, they player indicates that they have read, understood and agreed to the contents and terms and conditions of the Dubai Beach Volleyball Tour.
• Dubai Beach Tour and RIO Academy accept no responsibility for any injury caused to players at the competitions.
